If you happened to catch the Pipemaster Semi Finals between Damien Hobgood and Dean Morrison you might have noticed a questionable bail by Damien at the end of really close heat. Some are claiming Dean grabbed Damien’s leash a-la Lance Burkhart in Northshore.

Well, this reminds me of an incident a few years back in Westport. I was surfing the Jetty, in the corner with only a few guys out. Not crowded by any measure–plenty of room. Waves were good shape, maybe about shoulder high and clean.
I was sitting a little inside of the peak as a set was coming. The dudes that were deeper than me were getting in position and started paddling. No dice. Too deep. I saw this before they did and turned and started paddling also. Right when i turned there was a dude directly in my line…started paddling right in my way…right below me. Fuck that…i went for it. Run his ass over if i need. I basically rammed into him as i was stepping up and somehow managed to get his leash lasso’d around my foot. Right as he went to step up his leash caught on my foot and he went down and got clobbered.
Instantly the dude blew up and yelled “Oh shit! Burkhart grabbed my leash!” This familiar guy is good and is more or less a dick in the water. Nothing new. We had a few words and it ended. Or so i thought. A few minutes later i noticed him pointing me out. Shortly after i got surrounded by about 4 dudes all mean-mugging and barkin. If you know me you know i’m a peaceful soul and getting in a fight is the last thing i would want have happen. So i just paddled away.

Might it be the chubby dickhead in the silver toyota tundra with a longboard on his pipe rack, always wears sunglasses and his Xcel hat? If so, good call. That guy is a huge dick, in and out of the water.

There are a lot of hazerdous yellow toothed angroids in westpoop. I have had a few leash incedents..all accidental. Sometimes it happens, especially when there is a small take off spot (like the groins is mostly). To me that looked accidental as well, but who knows.
