The dudes at Union Binders asked people through the TackledBox blog for suggestions/input about what they’d like to see in a binding. The result of reader and rider input is the Union Force SL in purple (info here).
This year they’re asking for input from readers again. What would you with next years Superpro Binder?
My idea: Put a cable lock in that shit. Drop one of them little cable lock things in the side of the base plate. Retracto style of course. Cable comes out of one side, combo lock on the other side. Boom! Just enough staying power to deter middle school punks from liftin your shit while you drain a cold one. Probably wouldn’t do much good against a meth head with a philips…but it’s a start.
Ah man, how rad would it be to catch someone trying to snatch your stick?! I day dream about that one….
Ok…anyways….Got an idear? Drop some suggestions for next years Union Superpro binder on the Tackledbox.
Binding Cable Lock. nwbroweather–you heard it here 1st.

okay, that’s actually a good idea.

I like it. The cable wouldn’t even have to be that long. If something like that existed, I’d gladly ride with it as a leash if it didn’t retract. Might work better as a key lock, need a cover so as to not get filled with snow. This could work…
yeah, the snow part might be tricky…but doubling as a leash? shit man…that’s a good idear too.
Bindings.
#1 reason why snowbroing is lame.
Well that and the gay ass outerware colors these days.
Not enough XL bindings on the market, and yea, what Dub said
for the record stomp pads are for gregs
That cable is a damn good idea. My snowboard was stolen at the holy oly last year. Now I either carry it everywhere with me or have a mini lock in my pants. Lockin that shit up is genius. You’d better call patent pending on that shit. Actually, I’m gonna steal it and run to the patent office tomorrow morning. Sry bro.
The most important binding features for me are:
- Adjustable strap holes – depending on boots this is key.
- No steel. Shit gets bent. No flexibility.
- Flexible plastic for tweakability and feel, but stiff enough to support all that charging power. Weight doesn’t really matter. E=MC^2; an increase in mass will lead directly to an exponential increase in energy. This is only good. ha. scientifically speaking.
- Mold the highbacks so they naturally sit more parallel to the snowboards edge. Direct pressure conversion to your heel edge. They are already adjustable so this is probably more of a mounting preference thing… But you could probably make a gimick out of it somehow.
- Fold the top of the highback back so it doesnt dig into your boot when the pressure is on. Just round the top back. Quick like. Maybe extend it a little and then round it off? I like forward lean. This might eliminate the problem I sometimes get.
I don’t know. Call up Craig Kelly. He was the mad scientist of all this shit.
Cable is genius though.
