Vampire Weekend @ Neumos - 3/26/08
Posted by: drexnefex in Music, tags: Neumos, Vampire WeekendA friend of mine had tickets to the Vampire Weekend show @ Neumos 3/26/08 but was ‘too tired’ to go to the sold out show. Lucky me! I promptly swooped up the tickets and headed to the Hill where a late March blizzard was waiting for me. Weird.
After getting ready for the show at Mo bar with the assistance of a few PBR’s, McKenney and i headed into Neumos. Holy crap the place was packed! Neumos is a bit lame when it’s that packed. But then again most places are.
Vampire Weekend went on pretty much on schedule @ 10:45 which was nice (being a school night and all). They were all wearing some form of a button-up, collared shirt like a bunch of goofy frat kids. Really goofy.
Despite the goofy, packedness of the place Vampire Weekend was f-ing awesome live. These guys have a ton of energy and you can see their stoke on stage. The music is super fun, has a playful feel to it….reminds me of Paul Simon a bit. There was a lot of crowd interaction–the band was talking between songs a lot. Maybe it was the 6 PBR’s but the music had this white kid dancing.
If you haven’t heard em yet, check em out the media player thingy below. If you haven’t seen them live yet…do it next time they come through town. Im sure they’ll be in a bigger venue next time.
Here’s a few of their songs:
