2008 HOLY OLY! REVIVAL

Holy Update!

If you missed the Holy Oly, you clearly have questionable priorities. This years Holy Oly was the best one yet. Sunny, warm, soft, lotta beer and dudes going richter on the QP.

Notables were Wille Yli-Luoma doing huge lofty alley-oop front3’s, Monty Hayes doing huge mcTwists, The White Jesus doing huge methods, some Argentine kid going 15 feet+ out, the snowskaters airing out of athe pipe, and a bunch of other retarded stuff that made the crowd oooh and aaah.

The Holy Oly was so sic this year. Sunny conditions make all the difference. Big ups to Krush and the park crew for building a 28 foot fun monster.

The Holy Oly Revival - Saturday February 23 @ Hyak

This coming weekend, February 23 at Hyak…come check out a bigass 1/4 pipe made out of 1,000,000 cubic yards of the NW’s finest. This monster is built by hand because they don’t make Pipe Dragons that big–yet.

Speaking of big, there will be dudes that get paid to shred, a few up and coming locs, some drunk hecklers, a few ladies and Krush Kuleza all going big in some form or another.

The last few years highlights include Allister Shultz’s retarded huge methods, Justin Heath’s double chuckaflips, Devin falling off the side to flat and doods on snowskates taking it to the max. If you’re into watching some crazy shizzle go down grab a camping chair something to keep you warm and come check out what’s sure to be some spectacular spectating.

    The Oly is just a non-event for me. It seems like I’ve been out of town, sick, or injured, each time. The only one I’ve been to it was too foggy/raining to see what was actually going on. I’m sure my luck has something to do with my Summit local status (pass holder for only 2 years), the amount of Oly I’ve consumed (grew up drinking Bud), I call Ski Acres ‘Central’, and the fact that I can’t name a single run on Hyak.

    I’ll be riding in Colorado this weekend. Next year maybe I’ll be able to view the Oly from the woods.

    this years holy oly was way better than last years. i spent the first half campin out up top with my 200mm lense drinkin tecate which was the shit. then after a few of those tasty beverages and some athletic tape, my ankle was feeling good enough for a little abuse so i hiked. i didnt split my helmet in half this year and everyone was killin it. and i didnt have to pay!! yes, im a cheapass. cant wait til next year.

    on another note, i tried handplants for the first time last night on the shitty quarter pipe at central. stuck a few andrechts but ended up turning most of them into millerflips. at least thats what the old guy called em. fun shit.
