I’ve pretty much broken every snowboard i’ve ever set foot on. This post is just a recap of all the boards i’ve killed since i started snowboarding in 1997.
I bought my 1st snowboard used, off some dude in the paper. This was before CraigsList so there was some serious effort required getting my hands on this thing. It was a old GNU Kinetic 168 with Elfgen 911 bindings. But holy shit i was stoked. I finally had my own snowboard (i didn’t count the Black Snow i got a few years earlier). I ended up breaking the bindings off 1st day, 1st run. My college roomates decided it would be a good idea to take a guy who’d never been on a lift to the top of Alpental. It was beyond repair. Total bummer….i didn’t end up riding again till the following winter 96/97 when i started working at Ski Acres in the rental shop. This is where the Trail of Death starts.
1. 1997: K2 HC 155 - Demise: landed on tail and the board exploded. I swear this was made out of a piece of plywood.

Peelers that is a fine list. I still have a harvest 168 the one with the harvest Moon on the bottom and black. That thing is a cadillac. Harvest boards were great the one with the bird on the bottom, was real fun too little more manuevarable.
January 19th, 2008 at 12:32 am
yeah b man!!! that’s the one. the one with the harvest moon winking on it! it’s broken but i hung on to that one for sentimental reasons. a cadillac is a good descrition. that thing was so dang stable at speed. the topsheet on those things were killer too huh? that ruberized stuff. yeah, that one with the bird graphic was sick too.

Harvest 57 or 58, don’t remember
Lib Jamie Lynn

Lib Travis Rice
The Harvest was also my greatest loss. I cried i think. I also was never able to find another one. The topsheet was sick, it was one big stomp pad.

Drex has broken more boards than Mr. Miyagi.
I don’t know what my problem is but I’ve put in 16 or 17 years and have not broken 1. Not sure if I’m not packin away enough burgers or just too smooth.

it was cool at first. now it’s just a pain in the buns. i have to roll with a backup all the time…never know when, how it’s gonna go down. i just know it will.
the craziest board break i’ve ever seen though was Clem at Stevens Ass. Somehow he broke the board (that rossi i think) down the middle, from tip to tail. Freakshow.
January 22nd, 2008 at 5:37 pm
Clem you forgot the NBN board. That was a sweet carving device.
Craziest brake I ever saw was clems arm after hitting a tree, gnarly x ray.
January 22nd, 2008 at 5:48 pm
Drex….yeah it was a rossi, travis rice i think. Add that to the llist, and the NBN. I can’t believe i rode that thing. I think they made those boards out of balsa wood, two layer balsa.

if we can count ancient bindings, i’m up there with s.drex in the items broked category…if it’s only boards, then I have one old lib and one old option. pretty weakstyle.

some of you surfy types might get a kick out of this…. from snowboardseattle.com
i posted this:

TODAY…E WIND 5 TO 15 KT. WIND WAVES 1 OR 2 FT. W SWELL 4 FT AT 14 SECONDS
Work sucks. Wish i was at L.A. Push today.

dude named surfwater_surfsnow replied with this:

You mean LaPush smart guy, and if you knew anything about surfing you would know that surf report sux.
Yeah let’s go hit some blown out wind waves, with an on shore wind blowing out from the beach? Dude go play in the rip, let nature take its course. Maybe you will post something worth reading for a change instead of always being a dick on the forums.
Now Monday on the other hand, is going to be phenomenal. 15ft swell with a clean and low onshore breeze blowing in at 14 sec intervals. That’s a surf report worth posting.
Wanna go? Tell you what if you can even keep up and surf a wave I will buy you a corn dog Peelers.

haha…pure genius. I wish i could go on Monday to watch him rip up la push on a fifteen foot swell. I’ve been down in Portland all week w/o my surfboard. Big mistake, it looked really good the last couple days.
January 25th, 2008 at 4:41 am
yeah… i offered to drive him to lapush, pay gas, and ferry and bet him one thousand dollars he couldn’t even make it through the whitewater on 15ft swell.
dude said he didn’t want to take my money. i’m glad you found humor and that as well clem. i think i like the part about the nice onshore breeze blowing in at 14 seconds the best.
January 25th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
holy shizzle…what a fool. i’d like to see that ass paddle out in 8ft L.A.Push. that’s tough enough.
January 25th, 2008 at 6:20 pm
you ain’t lying. i pretty much suck at surfing but.. .jebus at least i can read a report.
January 26th, 2008 at 3:00 am
